Summer is halfway gone- but there are still plenty of ways to get inspired to get B L I S S E D O U T. We chatted with Stephanie Ouellette-Rinks of @suptopia about what inspires her, what moves her, and ultimately where she finds her Bliss!
What is your Bliss in 5 words or less?
Love, Travel, Yoga, Water/Nature, Animals
I am really passionate about the environment. Nature is so incredible, and it hurts me to see the world around us being slowly destroyed. From recycling, composting, or renewable resources; to making conscious choices to shop & spend in support of organic/local/sustainable products & companies - each of us can strive to have a positive impact & influence. Want to know a secret? People working in organic/local/sustainable industries are usually super stoked to share knowledge and tips! Next time you are at the farmers market wondering if you could ever grow your own herb garden... Ask for advice! We are all on this big, beautiful blue planet together... And ongoing education is the key to making amazing changes.
Lifestyle: Independent, determined, creative, and a secretly shy person... Chasing my big dreams and trying to live life my own way!
Movement: Yoga, SUP yoga, acro yoga, and waterski shows... I'm on the Canadian National Waterski Show Team!
When and what was the last big leap of faith you took?
Leaving it all behind last fall to travel the East Coast with my hubby in a 15-foot 1984 solar-powered travel trailer we named Rhonda... After our relationship having been mostly long distance for 18 months! Our families thought we were nuts! We made it from Canada to Key West, to Pensacola, and are now moving north. We have been WWOOFing, which is volunteering on organic farms, for the last 2+ months of the trip which has been really inspiring. We have also learned a lot about living more simply. The whole thing has been life-changing! (@_theroadtohome_

But my biggest leap of faith was starting Suptopia Floating Yoga - my SUP Yoga business in Canada. After being a professional waterskier and stunt woman my whole adult life, diving into business ownership was more than a little scary! But you know what? You don't know how to do everything (website, marketing, insurance, ordering equipment...), but you do learn - one area at a time. And people around me were very excited to see it come together and helped out in the most amazing ways! Our SUP Yoga season is short & sweet, but Muskoka is unlike anywhere I've ever been - a Canadian must-see. (@suptopia
Who is in your community?
My yoga fam, my waterski fam, and my fam-fam! All stretch far & wide around the world but are there for each other in a heartbeat. My hubby and I have been living and working mostly overseas for the past 10 years. I do long for a 'home base' & the local community that comes with it... We are actually looking for a place we would like to call home - hence the big East Coast roadtrip!
Yoga, SUP, anything on or near water! I have a reading list as long as my arm but I am a slow & distracted reader... Is Instagram a hobby?! (Guilty laugh!)
Top 3 Outdoor/Indoor Activities
Outdoor: yoga, boating, SUP, exploring
Indoor: yoga, eating, snuggling/sleeping - we just adopted a gorgeous senior cat named Lilli so snuggling is a top priority!
My hubby inspires me constantly. He has this endless supply of energy, and a heart of gold.
So many people! And isn't bliss-finding quite ongoing? But I'd have to say my parents... Though my nomad-hippy life is far from their style! But they raised me to be independent enough to follow my own path. They call me their Gypsy Daughter... I take it as a compliment ;)
Honestly? One day I'd love a space on a lake or body of water with loads of yummy food gardens, animals, and an amazing yoga space, of course! A place to share healthy living with others. But for this very moment - I'm living my dream life!
